Lewa is a 62000 acre conservancy located in Isiolo, Meru. It is a UNESCO world heritage site and boasts the largest population of Grevy's Zebras with 350+ individuals living within its boundaries. It is also an important conservation area for black rhinos. The conservancy is also home to 450+ bird species making it an ideal location for bird lovers. Lewa conservancy began as a cattle ranch, and over time began supporting the endangered black rhinos in around 1980 before becoming a sanctuary for wildlife in 1995.
