The Karen Blixen museum is a Museum established in 1985 in order to commemorate the life of Karen Blixen. Karen Blixen was a famous Danish author who became popular for writing the book “Out of Africa”. The book gained traction after the release of a movie with the same name. The movie became a hit and won 7 academy awards. The museum is located near Ngong hills and can be viewed from a distance. In addition the museum has a very scenic nature trail and a serene garden.

Karen Blixens Life in Kenya

Being the former home of Karen Blixen, the museum contains a lot of the items belonging to her during her time. It also serves as a window into the past showing how people used to live during the colonial times. One of the items found here include a photograph of Karen with the Kenyan natives who were working for her at the time. Since the museum has a farm during Karen Blixen’s time you will also find a lot of farm equipment that were used during the time such as tractors and wagons. The museum also has a shop where people can buy souvenirs.

Nature trail & Garden

Along the trail you will see a variety of birds and tree hyraxes. The trees along the trails are labeled to help visitors identify them. The Museum also has beautiful gardens surrounding it adding to the already scenic nature trail.
