The Nairobi Gallery contains a vast collection of african artifacts such as clothing,jewellery as well as furniture some as far back as the 1800. Most of these items are part of Joseph and Sheila Murumbi’s collection. Joseph Murumbi was the second vice president of Kenya and an avid collector of African artwork and artifacts. Before being gazetted as a museum the building had some historical significance as it was used as a courthouse, office of the Provincial Commissioner, KANU’s Nairobi branch as well as the office of the Native mInistry throughout its lifetime. Besides being a gallery Nairobi Gallery is also an artist’s haven allowing artist to showcase their works from time to time
