Fort Jesus
Mombasa, Kenya
Fort Jesus was a fort built by the Portuguese in 1593 to serve as a stronghold for the Portuguese that were living in Mombasa at the time. The fort has been occupied by several different cultures over the years including the Omani Arabs, Swahili and the British. The fort is a UNESCO world heritage site recognised for allowing us to have a look into the past and see what type of structures were built during the 15th and 16th century since it has remained almost unchanged over the years
